What is Music?
According to Google, Music is "the art or sicence of combining vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion."
From the Department of Music, "Four percent of the OSU student body is enrolled in a music program. Of those enrolled, 80 percent are in a performance ensemble and 86% of those enrolled in performance ensembles are not music majors. Music programs filter into all majors across campus and enhance the college experience for so many students.
Corvallis is quickly becoming one of Oregon’s most vibrant centers for the performing arts. OSU music ensembles are an active and visible part of the local arts scene. The beautiful main campus is located within walking distance to Corvallis’ quaint and growing downtown district and most of the city’s performance venues.
At OSU you'll find a dynamic community of people passionate about music. Priding itself as a leader in music education, OSU offers rigorous degree programs in music taught by expert faculty. And all OSU students have the opportunity to select music as a minor. Through small class sizes, students have the advantage of working closely with their music professors while studying within the larger context of a major research university."
